Robot with soul - chinese cigar blues mix...

The Yin and Yang is basically a principle of duality that we see in nature, but the theory is far deeper than that. If I put more technical mumbo-Jumbo into it; The concept of Yin-Yang is used to describe how 'polar or seemingly contrary forces are interconnected and independent in the natural world, and how they give rise to each other in turn'.Still don’t get it?? Perhaps if I put it this way you might get it: Dark and light, female and male, high & low cold and hot...Etc etc that goes like opposites of each other. Let’s take the very simple duality to understand; Man and Woman: Man, Woman has very different, independent attributes both physically and mentally (except the most special cases). Yet even though that, they’re interconnected and give rise to each other; both Man and Woman desire each other and need of each other for their sustainability (Excluding the exceptional like me) in the physical world. So that’s explaining Yin and Yang with a basic example which any person with a logical, intellectual mind would understand.

In the Yin and Yang Logo:

>> The white circle against black; Yin, is usually characterized as: slow, soft, insubstantial, diffuse, cold, wet, and tranquil, and associated with things like water, earth, femininity, birth and generation, and with the night.

>> The black circle against white; Yang, by contrast, is characterized as: fast, hard, solid, dry, focused, hot, and aggressive, are associated with things like fire, the sun, masculinity and daytime.

So now you might be thinking; “Okay I get it, in & Yang Co. explains the shows that there are opposites in nature and actually supporting each other for existence rather than contracting each other. But what does it have to be with music?? Music is man\Woman made and not a part of nature..."

Wrong! The very Basic building block of music is Beat! Any person who knows physics will tell you that. This beat, is actually a very creation of nature...You didn’t notice it out there? Well they can be catchy too: The sound of rain drops, the crashing of waves and you may have not noticed, but the very First sound you have heard in this world is a Beat: You're mother’s heart beat! So it might be very obvious to you that Beat is the foundation of Music and Music must have a YIN and YANG! But what is it??

Ever notice that in some certain Music that is considered great it makes you feel oblivious of time, heart catching, spine tingling or make you're body-hair stand ?? That is if you are not a fashion model completely shaved...hahaha! Anyway, this sensation we shall name as 'Soul' in music. The one that makes music 'a living spirit’. We’re not talking about Soul Music okay, just name those soul moving song's whatever type they are as 'Soul’. For example for the sake of an average listener let’s take a look at the Avenged Sevenfold song "Dear God", it touches every love sick lulu heart and every Girl so far listened to it. This is an example of 'soul'. The ability to tap into the human which is not physically visible.

Then there are the type of Music that are considered as great though they don’t have a much of a 'soul' into it for an average listener. But taking a close look (actually an ear), you might find that these music either technically hard or INSANE! To play. For example; What Drummer Mario of the Metal band Gojira plays may
not have great soul into them to tap into the inner nerves of an average listener, but have you noticed that they are technically advanced??

In Rock\Metal music the Yin-Yang balance is vital as the things you chow down to keep up you're survivability(well same goes with other genre’s too). Since Rock/Metal are music that are normally loud. A good balance in Technicality and Soul will ensure the health, survivability, longevity in a such music\song. Such an interesting song is "Scavenger of Human Sorrows" by Death that I have stumbled pone. As the title suggests you can get a picture what this song actually deals about. In this song rather than use Technical elements to exhibit their capabilities in instruments, Death uses technicality to give life, soul to their music. Thus you get a music that matches the theme. I’m sure many metal heads will agree to it.
What Gojira lacks to certain extent (as I believe) is that. Mario can beat the
heart out of rhythm when he's on that drum stool... But they do not feed the essential technicals to the music... Or rather shall we say, they are not using the technicals to give life to the words… Which leads to the point that not many average listeners know or prefer Gojira(excluding metal heads and myself).

By now you may be wondering; to feed the complex human wanderings and Saga's a drummer\guitarist must be really technically advance in playing the music.

NO. You don’t have to be an insane shredder in guitars or to be related to Jimi Hendrix to feed the soul to music... Look at Opeth, Mikael Ã…kerfeldt is not an insane shredder in guitars. But look at the music he creates with the Guitar..Same with Avenged Sevenfold's lead guitarist Synyster Gates-in "Dear God"(since most of you are familiar with this one) yes a betiful one...but not insane. Yet, it fits to the scope of the music. Look at Guns and Roses-“November Rain”. Ok the guitars are something, but see how simple the drum work is? In fact in most GnR song’s drum work is like that. Simple but sweet.

So it's very vital for you to accept this balance as a music maker to create good, long living music..And of course I wish the very best for it.

To sum up:

Putting the bullet through the head I will type: The Holy commandment for 100% pure music regardless of their genre is the Balance of its Yin-Yang. Soul-The Ying, Technicality-The Yang. Thou full-fill this and it will create an immortal sound.
Take this logic slowly in and perhaps you might stumble pone what I have.

peace sells...
